Summary: Knowing something and witnessing it firsthand are two very different things
She knew, even before she pushed the door open, she knew that she would find him in there. Why she had even bothered going to Jared's room she didn't know - deep down she knew it would be empty.
After all, where else would Jared be than with Jensen?
And with Jensen was exactly where Sandy found Jared.
She stepped into the room, the door closing softly behind her. Leaning back against it, she wrapped her arms around herself as she took in the scene in front of her:
Jared was slumped over in the too-small plastic chair, ankles hooked around the back legs. His arms were folded on the side of Jensen's bed; the white of the cast surrounding his broken wrist a stark contrast to the tan of his arm. His head was pillowed on his arms and he was asleep, snoring softly.
Jensen was propped up against his pillows, pale and bruised face lined with pain. He was awake, but didn't acknowledge her; his eyes trained on Jared, a fond look on his face, fingers cording through his hair in a familiar, comforting motion.
Sandy's stomach sank and she looked away, staring down at the floor, blinking rapidly against the tears she could feel pricking at her eyelids. When she looked up again, Jensen's eyes met hers, a sad almost apologetic smile on his lips. She returned the smile, lips pressed into a thin line as she continued to fight back her tears. She nodded once, then broke eye contact, Jensen's attention returning to Jared as Sandy turned and walked out of the room.
