so im listening to the new black eyed peas cd....and u know u'd expect them to have song featuring artists such as:

-Justin Timberlake

-Q-Tip

-Talib Kweli

-Cee-Lo

-John Legend

-James Brown

-Dante Santiago (whoever he is?)

-Sting

and then JACK JOHNSON>!>!>!>! ITS SOOOOO WEIRD!!! LOLOLOL :)

is it really THAT weird? The black eyed peas ... like the roots ... were once a funky band. Now they are extremely mainstream, so mainstream that suburban white people are absorbing them in their culture (no offense intended, but your buying their CD is evidence of that). It's jsut an example of how black (what was once stupidly called, urban) culture in the US is being taken in by the mainstream. I think it's an interesting phenomenon. Bands like DMB and Jack Johnson have been trying their damn hardest to overcome their whiteness and get down with their funky selves -- and they've done a damn good job at appealing to both "urban" and suburban audiences. So i don't think it is so surprising that jj is featured on the BEP album.
