In the movies Shatner got to call the shots more... directing and writing some of the movies, which might be a little too much of ol' Bill.

I heard he was upset that he wasn't asked to play Kirk in the new movie, which is just plain ridiculous. I'm kind of excited to see what Abrams does with it, though.
