So my mood has been in the gutter this whole week...I dont know why. I make an effort to change my mood around and then I start thinking about what this person did to me..or what this person said and itll warp my thoughts for the whole day, or at least while Im at workl But leave it up to some good music to make me feel better. "Dry" was the first Augusten Burroughs book I read. I really liked it. I'm excited that someone actually went with one of my recommendations. Definetely read "Dry" first though. It was written first.

I really like this post. I can relate to what you're saying but also, it's really well written. Man, I don't think I would be here if it weren't for music. It's so fucking powerful. I was listening to The Beatles earlier this week on my way to work. The song, "Oh! Darling" came on and it totally took me back to that Christmas when we were driving back from St. Louis, and mom was in the back seat and we were singing that song and "Maxwell's Silver Hammer". Do you remember that?

So who actually carved the Ice Boner? That's so funny.

I went with your earlier reccomendations! I read a couple David Sedaris books, and am currently *listening to* "Everything Is Illuminated" and I really like it so far. Oh, and I told John that I'm going to steal "Magical Thinking" from him when he finishes it :-) You've pointed me in the right direction thus far :-D Thanks!

Dry was also the first of his books i read, and of course i read it a while before all of the gay/drug addict/totally fucked up life/spiral of pain and destruction books came out. (read: james frey) Great book.

And, Elisabeth, your post reminded me of when we drove to the ozarks once and were riding around in my car listening to the Beatles, as well as Cake. I just remember listening to that same song and we were talking about how it was crazy that A: every song on the album was perfect, and B: it totally stood the test of time and sounded great so many years later. i think we were listening to Sgt. Peppers too.
