I'm a bit situational on beer. Different beers in different food, weather or whatever. We'll go with my favorite for sitting in the pub or on my couch and just hanging out, which would be Harp, especially on tap

damn good question. I almost reflexively said Lovecraft, but I thought better of it. It's really a toss up between Pratchett and Orwell. I love the way Pratchett developed from fantasy with a snarky sense of humour into some really biting satire. Orwell is one of the few things I had to read for school that I genuinely enjoyed, and has stayed with me. If I have to pick one I'll give the edge to Pratchett for more excellent books filling my shelf vs Orwell's few master strokes
