Chapter Fourteen: Just When You Thought It Was Safe to be Happy

So Friday night was the Guided Prayer retreat over at Western Lodge. It was OK. The outside guy who was supposed to run things had open heart surgery this week, so Father Len took over. Consequently, the whole thing was kind of thrown together. It was fun, and offered some interesting things to think about, but overall it wasn't the deeply ( Read more... )

Check out Pawn shops and flea markets. That is where they will most likely sell it. Remember how I told you about finding all of my cd's and cd player that was stolen out of my car at the flea market pawn shop booth. If you have a serial number or something that shows you owned that base, if you find it at a pawn shop you can get it back and also get the establishment fined for buying stolen goods.
But I know how you feel.... Who the hell breaks into a '81 Empalla?? Or a 93 Taurus.... in the movie theatre parking lot? Basically people who know they can get away with it! Stupid assholes! I'm really sorry that this happened to you! I know exactly how you feel. I've had my cars broken into 5 differnt times. It really sucks! I'm going to the flea market next weekend, if it's the same bass you had when you were in high school I'll keep my eyes open for it.

Yeah, same bass as it was in high school. Wood finish, 5 strings. Very distinctive feature on the bottom: where the strap attaches, you can see that it's been broken off and rescrewed in twice -- there are two broken screws still stuck in the body. If you found it you would be my hero!

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

That bass has shared a lot of great moments with us, all the songs we wrote with it, faces we rocked, Fuck them. Fuck them. It's all in the Lord of the Flies. did u have it insured? i know we talked about doing that wiht our gear at one point, but i never did it. i'm guessing you didn't either. Fuck them.
I hope we find it, but more importantly i hope i have a chance to take the switchblade to the little fuck who took it. I'm thinking he'll be less inclined to steal if he's missing a few fingers.

not insured specifically, but my parents seem to think that an item of such value (list price of $800...nobody needs to know I got it on sale for half that) will fall under our main house or car insurance policy. Minus the $500 deductible, we would get 300 bucks, which is a start towards a replacement...anyway i'll talk to you later man let's figure out housing/jamming (I still have that fretless thing, maybe this will make me learn how to play it :-)
