I didn't start watching this one when it premiered last season because of a conflict. I'd heard the buzz, though, and bought the DVDs last week when they came out

I thought Eleventh Hour was better. Now that gave me a 'gotta watch' feeling. Fringe reminds me a bit of X-files. The character drynamics get better as the show moves along and some of the cases are really interesting. It's not bad. It's just not hit the golden ratio yet.
I never watched Eleventh Hour (for the same reason I didn't watch Fringe). I'm guessing it wasn't renewed?
Yes, Fringe definitely has that X-Files vibe going on.
I might like it if I liked the characters more. So far, none of them beside Peter grab me, and he's not all that sympathetic (at least in the eps I've seen).
I haven't got a "gotta watch" feeling from it and I've watched all of the episodes, but I like that it makes me think even after the episode is over. I hate sci fi and I hate horror but I find this show intriguing. as far as I can tell the only issue that stays with the show week-to-week is the questionable experimentation done on the female lead, and her quest to find out what happened to her.
TODS likes it - I tried watching it with him but gave up after a few episodes because it was too gruesome for me. He really likes the crazy old scientist guy, and I have seen bits and pieces of a few later episodes that I've liked.
I like the son better than the father (I can't get past the Denethor bit). Bobby can't stand Olivia -- he'll come into the kitchen while I'm watching and say "Tell her to put some makeup on -- she's so pale she'd going to disappear."
The weird thing is, while I'm watching, I'm interested. But I don't have that drive to turn the TV on to immerse myself like I do with NCIS and SVU.

So far, I'm up to the fifth episode -- Power Hungry -- so I haven't encountered any experimentation on Olivia yet (but I don't mind spoilers).
