After walking for miles across an unspoiled wilderness on a distant planet, Jack and Ianto arrived at a designated campsite. The place was deserted, no other campers in evidence, and the only signs of civilisation visible were a food and drink replicator, and a squat building containing the necessary hygiene facilities.
“Where are we supposed to sleep?” Ianto asked, looking around, bemused. He’d been camping plenty of times and didn’t mind roughing it, but he’d always had some kind of shelter available. “You said we wouldn’t need to bring a tent!” The only things in their backpacks were clothes and enough food for the first day of their hiking vacation.
“Tents have gone out of fashion. All that lugging them around, putting the pieces together, and dismantling them again in the morning is a waste of time and effort.” Going over to the replicator, Jack shoved a token into a slot, pressed a button, and a flat package slid into his hand. “Right, where shall we set up? How about over here?”
Setting the package on the ground in his chosen spot, he pulled a tab and stepped back as a cosy cabin popped up.
“Inflatable houses are much better.”
