“This ain’t fair!” the kid whined, tugging at the handcuffs. “I ain’t done nothin’!”
“You tried to hold up a liquor store at gunpoint,” Ryo pointed out.
“Ain’t a real gun, just my grandpa’s fancy lighter. He left it to me when he snuffed it a few weeks back. Anway, I didn’t even take nothin’!”
“Don’t matter that ya didn’t succeed, ya still tried to rob the place.” Dee shoved the youth towards the door, keeping a firm grip on him. “Actions have consequences, didn’t anyone ever teach ya that?”
“All I wanted was beer and cigs!”
“Are you even legal age?”
“What’s that got to do with anythin’? The bastard owns this place wouldn’t sell me what I wanted. When I came back with the lighter, he threatened me with a shotgun! Why aren’t ya arrestin’ him?”
“He’s not the one who broke the law,” Ryo reminded the would-be robber. “He was protecting his business, and he has a licence for his weapon.”
“He should’a just sold me the beer and cigs. I had the money, I would’a paid.”
“He couldn’t do that, it’s illegal to sell to someone who’s underage.”
Dee chuckled. “Face it, kid; ya can’t win.”
