Perhaps it was an unnecessary extravagance, but Ryo could afford it, so he went ahead and did it anyway. It would be worth every cent just to see the look on his lover’s face when he opened his gift. Ryo wasn’t a big sports fan himself, but Dee was, and he’d willingly joined Ryo doing so many things that were outside his own comfort zone, so why shouldn’t Ryo do the same? Relationships were all about give and take, and besides, spending time with the man he loved was never a chore, no matter what they were doing.
Dee’s face was a picture when he opened the envelope. His jaw dropped, and his eyes lit up.
“No way! This is awesome!”
Ryo laughed. “I thought you might be pleased.”
“Pleased? That’s the understatement of the frickin’ century! But these must’ve cost a bomb!” Dee stared in disbelief at the season tickets, valid for all the Knicks’ home games.
“We’ll just have to make sure not to waste them then.” Ryo was still grinning. “Even if that means occasionally having to trade shifts with someone else so we can be at the games. Whatever it takes.”
“You’re seriously gonna go with me?”
Ryo shrugged. “Bikky has ambitions to play professionally, so it wouldn’t hurt me to learn more about basketball. At least I already know which team to root for.”
“You’re the best, babe.” Dee reeled his lover in for a kiss, before looking at the tickets again. “These are really good seats.”
“There’s no point going to a game if we don’t have a good view of the court. Otherwise we might as well just stay home and watch on TV.”
“Still can’t believe you spent so much on me.”
“You’re worth it. And you can pay for the refreshments.”
