A/N: Double drabble.
Sometimes, Buffy’s everyday life felt like a role she was playing, pretending to be a normal high school student, doing all the things other girls her age did. Going to classes, gossiping with her friends, obsessing over boys, clothes, hair, and make-up, complaining about getting too much homework… all the things other teenage girls took for granted often seemed kind of unreal, a dream she had when she wasn’t fulfilling her destiny.
She wondered if it had been the same way for all of the Slayers who came before her. Probably not. For most of them, being the Slayer had been their only purpose in life, their sole reason for existing. They hadn’t been trying to juggle school, and home, and Slaying, struggling to find some way of balancing all of their responsibilities.
Was it foolish to want to have it all, the life of a normal girl on top of her Slayer duties? She’d never asked to be the Slayer; it was something that had been dumped on her out of the blue. Unlike most potentials, she hadn’t been found early and trained for the task. Nevertheless, sometimes Slaying was the only part of her life that felt real.
