Summary: Most people are never aware that the TARDIS is there.

Despite its size, bright blue colour, and solid wooden construction, the TARDIS is easy to overlook. If you don’t know it’s there and you’re not looking for it, chances are your eyes will simply slide past it and its presence won’t register on your brain at all. That’s the advantage of perception filter technology. The TARDIS can be hidden in plain sight.
Hundreds of people have already passed by without so much as a passing glance. They detour around the obstacle in their path, but if asked why, they wouldn’t know. It’s the most effective form of camouflage ever developed.
