“Rare alien delicacies?” Ianto raised a decidedly dubious eyebrow. “Are they anything like the rare and expensive delicacies back on earth?” He’d tried a few of those over the years, when he was feeling daring, and on almost every occasion, had been left at best unimpressed. At worst, he’d almost sworn off eating anything he didn’t recognise ever again. On one memorable occasion, he’d been ready to give up eating altogether. Some things were so vile it was a mystery why anyone would willingly eat them.
Jack considered the question as he scanned the menu in the alien restaurant. “Honestly, most of them are even worse. Some things that one race considers a delicacy would potentially kill anyone else, or at least make them wish it had.”
“Why did we even come here then?” The sign outside had said that the place served delicacies from all over the known universe.
“Because there’s something on the menu here that you can’t get anywhere else within a hundred light years. Trust me, you’re gonna love it.”
“Hm.” Ianto eyed his husband. “We’ll see.”
Jack ordered for both of them, and when the food arrived, Ianto couldn’t help laughing.
“These are Welshcakes!”
“Yep!”
