A new hero

I don't know why I've never heard of him before, but I just discovered Joe Hill. His story is amazing. Born Joel Emmanuel Hägglund, has his name Americanized to Joe Hill on Ellis Island in 1902. Becomes labor activist and member of the Wobblies. Writes clever song lyrics and poetry. Is framed for murder and executed by firing squad in Iowa in ( Read more... )

There is a Joan Baez song about him:
