Buffy sighed, studying the mess the demon had made of her top. It was a shame, she’d really liked this one, but now it probably had indelible stains. Still, she’d do what she could to salvage it. Maybe that new stain remover her mom had bought might help. Carefully, she scraped several lumps of demon goop off the front of her top using the blade of her knife, shaking each one onto the forest floor with an unpleasantly wet splat. As she’d expected, they left behind greenish yellow streaks that combined badly with the pale pink fabric.
“Charming! It couldn’t even die tidily.”
Willow pulled a face. “Mucous demons live up to their name.”
“They wouldn’t be called mucous demons if they weren’t mucous-y, Will.”
“I guess not. Still, it could be worse! At least your back’s clean!” Willow had a knack for looking on the bright side, even in the worst and most unpleasant situations.
“Not sure that’s going to save my top.” Buffy turned to her friend. “Do I have demon bits in my hair?”
“Only a few, Let me just…” Willow dug in her bag, pulling out a pack of wet wipes. “Always best to be prepared!”
