Clara had just arrived home from work and was getting her key out when the Doctor appeared right behind her and tapped her on the shoulder, almost scaring the life out of her.
“Don’t do that!” she snapped, one hand at her throat, her heart pounding in her chest.
“Do what?”
“Lurk in the bushes like that!”
“I don’t lurk!”
“What would you call it then?”
“I was waiting for you to get home. You said you didn’t want me showing up at the school.”
“I didn’t mean you should waylay me at home!”
“Whatever I do, you’re never happy.”
