Once upon a time, Owen’s life had been perfectly normal, or so he’d thought. He was a newly qualified doctor, with a beautiful, vibrant fiancée. They’d been planning their wedding, mapping out their future, and then…
Then Katie had been gone, killed by an alien parasite incubating in her brain. Everyone had treated him like he was losing his mind, and he’d begun to wonder if they were right, until Harkness had shown up and offered him a job.
Now, his life was anything but normal, working for an organisation that hunted aliens and dealt with alien technology that fell through a Rift in time and space. Some days, he still found himself wondering if any of it was real, or if he really had lost his mind after Katie, but then he’d be up to his elbows in stinky alien corpse, trying to figure out what the various organs were, and he’d just stop for a moment to reconsider.
Because there was no way he could make any of this stuff up, his imagination wasn’t that good, and he’d always thought sci-fi was a load of rubbish anyway. Turned out, truth was way weirder than fiction could ever be.
