Seattle University Mystery

So I think I've been accepted into Seattle University School of Law.

1) They are one of the two schools that I've applied to that have this little convenient "Admission Status" thing on their websites (the other one is UC Hastings).

2) In my email today I received a letter from Carol Cochran, Dean of Admissions, "cordially inviting me" to the final round of this moot appellate court trial, followed by a reception afterwards for participants, faculty, and "friends of the law school".

3) I thought that was peculiar, so I checked my admission status on the website and after seeing the same thing for 2 months ("File Last Updated On 11/15/2006: Decision Pending"), it was actually new today ("File Last Updated On 01/22/2006: Decision Mailed").

4) I thought it was weird that: A) I was invited to this moot court attendance, and B) it was mailed directly from the Dean of Admissions, Ms. Cochran. That might not mean anything though.

5) Our managing partner/resident genius attorney here at my firm (one of those types who has never lost a trial in his life), is actually an alum of that law school (well, he actually attended the University of Puget Sound, but quite a few years ago Puget Sound sold the law school to Seattle University). Nonetheless, last year when I was applying he put in a really good word for me when some Deans came here to San Francisco to court him into participating in the law school's activities more. He even forwarded me a copy of a handwritten thank you note to him from one of the Deans. He also traveled to the school last week to lecture, of all things.

6) Final piece of the puzzle: An excerpt from the thank you note, "Dean of Admissions Carol Cochran immediately recognized his name and knew from Dean Testy of your interest and accompanying letter of recommendation. We promise his application will be carefully considered."

So there it is. Tired of the mysteries already, schools respond!
