DETHKLOK RULES \-/ !!!

Well, Dethklok played Austin last night, so I resolved myself to go with a friend. A female friend. So I dropped her a text message, only to find that she HATES Dethklok and Metalocalypse. And that she likes Say Anything. I am not sure we can be friends anymore...:)

So, finding out that one female was less compatible than I would like, I did something amazing for me and asked a SECOND female out in one 2-hour timeframe! I felt like some sort of player, but I merely discovered...she already had a boyfriend. :/ These are things you should research before buying two tickets to a show. (And if either of them know my LiveJournal they now know they were not my exclusive attention that day......when you play the game, sometimes you get burned.)

Having no luck with women I switched to male friends, although that limited the options for the after concert entertainment...First friend I called was at home in Houston, no good. Second friend was stuck with his girlfriend at the hospital since she was in pre-op for ankle surgery. Yikes. Third friend was out with his wife. (And now driftpeasant knows he wasn't the first to get called. It's no sweat, man, I thought you might be doing something with your gal. Hope she recovers from her surgery alright.)

Now feeling hideously alone, I almost resolved not to go. But go I did.

It was a pretty good concert. First on the stage was Soilent Green, a band I had never heard of since death metal is not my standard genre of choice. They suitably rocked the crowd though, getting them pumped for Chimaira, who I HAVE heard of. They REALLY rocked the place, in preparation for Dethklok.

The Dethklok show was pretty neat in that it integrated a projector playing Dethklok music videos with the band playing the songs. There were small animated interludes as well, with the Tribunal plotting to destroy the concert until it was foiled by Toki peeing on an electrical cable, electrocuting the assassin who was supposed to spray poisonous gas into the crowd. (This was after an intermission with the band arguing about how it was better to just pee on stage if you had to rather than leaving the stage for the bathroom.) Also there was a instructional video on how to mosh, and an exploration of the staff of Dethklok (Level 26 employees are the Skank Patrol who search the crowd for women suitable for heading backstage.) Brendon Small did an awesome job playing the guitar and singing Nathan Explosion and Pickles's parts to all the songs (in "Hatredcopter" he sang dueling vocal against himself). At the end of the concert he thanked the crowd as Nathan, Pickles, and Skiwsgaar. :)
