Cordoba House: Don't just allow it to proceed, embrace it. But then hold the leader accountable for promoting religious tolerance. If he really wants to promote religious tolerance, he should already be planning to expand his institution into Iran and Saudi Arabia

in re prop 8: fact: CA supreme court did actually articulate that thought... which blew me away (the state should get out of the marriage business altogether), but it would have been counter-intuitive to the issue at hand. The law isn't politics. It goes: This is the issue. side 1: I believe X is legitimate. side 2: I believe X is not legitimate. But "not legitimate" never gets to mean anything other than literally not whatever legitimate/X stands for. i.e. The (legal) logical opposite of black is not-black. You don't get to suggest what it might or could be.
