Hahaha this date is hilarious.

Dara's right, they do need their own rules to play by.

"There does appear to be some similarities in technique..." Rinabaar admitted.

Heh heh heh. Rinabaar is hilarious! XD

She tried to superimpose
Rinabaar's picture of a fearless, dashing champion of right and good over her own self-image, but it just wouldn't fit.

I like this passage, it’s a nice metaphor.

Their conversation after this quote is lovely. It’s very true to both their characters. Neither of them are really interested in small-talk, they want to know what the other person is really like or really wants to know, they want to know what’s really in each other’s heads, not a sanitised, socially-approved version.
And of course it leads nicely to the scene’s purpose - one of them, anyway - for Dara to talk about the plot. :)
And become focused and pure of heart via kind words and MAKING OUT.

She listened to her own voice ranting away with a sinking feeling inside. She was blowing it. Rinabaar had seen something he thought he liked, and ( ... )

*coughs* There may be some of that going on in the next chapter... among other things... ^_^;

Awww… deep inside she has absolutely no self-confidence, huh.

Not when it comes to appealing to other people, no. :\

Rinabaar is like BUT I AM A GENTLEMAN - but the lady asked - dfijgsoijf.

A gentleman rises to every occasion, even ones that require a break in the gentlemanly facade. :D

It’s a calm before the storm scene. I can tell we’re coming up to the finale - I feel like this scene is the deep breath before we’re plunged into the river.

That's pretty much how it's intended, yeah. :) After this, it's ready or not, here comes the final showdown!

I couldn't stop smiling while I was reading this! :D

Rinabaar may be formal and slightly awkward when he is making small talk, but when he speaks about what matters he can be so gentle and eloquent. The contrast is absolutely remarkable. That made me smile so much because I actually know a guy and a girl just like that.

In your case, you remain Dara of Sablecrest Manor, caste of Mystics. You remain brilliant and powerful. You remain a force for truth and justice in the world. These things have not changed, nor do I believe they can change. All the things that you perceive to be in flux were weaker constructs, built on that rock-solid foundation."

I love how they're both so strong in different ways, and understanding of each other's weaknesses. They just seem to bring out the best in each other. And I was so glad to see Dara relaxed and genuinely happy, and accepting herself more. I hope Rinabaar will help her find peace, if that makes sense.

"I guess you have to maintain a pretty careful diet," Dara said. "You know, to maintain ( ... )

Yeah. Rinabaar is a lot smarter, and more sensitive, than he comes off at a casual glance. :)

Writing Dara actually having fun was a vaguely surreal experience after a month of her dooming and glooming her way through every chapter... ;)

I think this might actually be your best Nano story.

Aw. Thank you. :) I suppose it does have a somewhat more intricate plot than the others had...

I also recently finished reading Flesh of My Flesh, and loved it! I'll get areound to commenting on that soon. :)

Looking forward to it. :)

Just thought I'd mention that the guy you'd cast for Mansuur looks hilarious! (in a brooding, sinister manner, of course. I think it's the facial expression that makes him look so funny.

And the other actors you'd cast look great. Joe Manganiello would make a fine Rinabaar (very intense, strong and elegant) and Mellie from Dollhouse looks lovely, with an aura of strength. And Lizzy Kaplan matches my idea of what Aseena would look like. I'd never imagined Brad Pitt (is that the guy you'd cast as Jalon?) as Jalon, but it fits really well.

Hee! Yes, that's Angus Scrimm! :D He played the villain in an old horror movie called Phantasm, and he is just so wonderfully, relentlessly over the top in it. His every line was delivered in a sort of snarl of barely restrained fury, which fits Mansuur perfectly. Check out these scenes:

BOOOOOYYYYY!

Mine too. :) I needed someone who looked a little girlish and pixie-like, but still seemed strong and confident.

That's Brad Pitt, yes. He's the only choice I'm not entirely pleased with, to be honest. He was just the only actor I could think of who's "pretty" more than masculinely "handsome."

Angus Scrimm has an incredibly creepy voice in the Phantasm scenes! He's so incredibly over the top that he also sounds a bit funny, too. He'd make a perfect Mansuur.
