I have been listening to the awful events in West Cumbria unfold today whilst at a meeting in Preston. I am finding it hard to comprehend that someone would want to drive 40 miles through Cumbria indiscriminately shooting people in four different settlements, killing 12 and seriously injuring 25. I was thinking of you today, knowing you live in the area. I'm glad you and yours are ok.

When I went out earlier this afternoon they still said only one dead, I was shocked to come home in the evening to see on the news there are 12 fatalities and more serious injuries. The whole thing is really awful.

I was following the news for a lot of yesterday. I'm shocked that the number of dead is so high and horrified that it happened at all. I'm from Dumfries and Galloway and very fond of Cumbria, so it's fairly close to home for me, too. Though, obviously, not as close as it is for you. It's terrifying.
