Interesting Private Eye view on the Forestry Commission sell-off

I don't like The Eye very much, but they seem to have got this report right at least. Plans to sell off Forestry Commission land in England are likely to cost way more than they raise, and not just in the long term. An example given is a piece of forestry sold to an investor for £60000 who then claimed £55000 *a year* in grants and subsidies. ( Read more... )

I stopped taking The Eye in part because I grew to hate their one-sided agricultural coverage; but that is a pointed article, I may share it, so thanks for pointing it out.

I found The Eye to be pretty crappy on reporting local government issues which is one of the things that pissed me off with the publication, but when they get something right, it's often done well.
