Maps and dreams

Just a little vignette I wrote this afternoon instead of preparing a geography lesson...:)

Frodo/Sam, PG-13. Inspired by the following passage:

Frodo began to feel restless, and the old paths seemed too well-trodden. He looked at maps, and wondered what lay beyond their edges: maps made in the Shire showed mostly white spaces beyond its borders. ( Read more... )

oooh, that's absolutely gorgeous! And what a foretelling dream, as Frodo tends to have!

Thank you! I've always thought Frodo's dreams were fascinating. We should psychoanalyze him!:)

Oh, I love it. The forshadowing is melancholy but balanced with the warm, sensual reality of Sam.

Thank you!:) It's sad that Frodo will be deprived of Sam's warmth for more than sixty years, though.

What a wonderful combination of warm and tender love and cuddling with Sam and then that haunting dream - I loved this. Thanks for NOT doing the geography lesson!! *hugs*

Thank you very much for the nice feedback! It was more interesting to write than the geography lesson, as you can well imagine.:)

lost himself gratefully in the familiar geography of Sam's body and the comforting rhythm of their lovemaking

This is so lovely and warming, and contrasts so sharply and chillingly with the dream.

Thank you for the nice feedback! I've always found Frodo's vivid dreams in LotR very interesting, and I thought he's likely to have them even when he's still safe in the Shire.

That's beautiful my dear!!

I really love the line about the geography of Sam's body, so familiar to Frodo and so effective after the description of maps.

Thanks and lots of hugs!
