Title: Triangle
Author: Bagoas Alexandros
Rating: PG
Summary: Hephaestion's POV in the Gedrosian desert...a la Mary Renault.
Author's Note: Response to a challenge/request on ATGstories. Had it done a week ago, too damned lazy to post before now. Not the greatest, really, hate my ending but the rest is okay. (shrug)

I would go with you to the desert of Gedrosian anytime anywhere.

So glad you didn't put poor Bagoas into that riverbed. This is so much more fun than trudging through the Logistics of the Macedonian Army by Engels and some of the other literary background...

especially with people who have such good attitude for the time line of the ancients. Bagoas would have had some training in the art of pleasuring the harem... did he ever spend time with the queen?

Which queen? And probably no, at least not in a fictional sense. As a rule, in both ancient and Islamic Persia, eunuchs were usually bodyguards for the harem and the king. Usually. There are many exceptions of note to this rule, but on the whole considering the number of eunuchs 'employed', shall we say?, by the king, they served the harem, yes. Would Bagoas, as a possible catamite servant? Probably not, for the reasons that Renault stated...you didn't allow someone as beautiful as Bagoas and obviously favored over some of the other concubines into their vicinity...it wouldn't be pretty.

Engels book is an excellent source, though, for the logistics and military machinations of Alexander. I thoroughly enjoyed Engels research!

Had you cross-posted this? I was sure I'd left a comment telling you how much I liked it. It holds up perfectly at re-reading, sent here by geoviki!

I really enjoyed this story, I like the way you've fleshed out Hephaestion and shown his heart (jealousy) warring with his logial head.
