AUSA: Con Report

Nov 19, 2007 18:17

Thursday:

- Missed Thursday because of work, but that was probably a good thing because it was pretty wet and cold.

Friday:

- Woke up around 8am on Friday, did some last minute packing and errands for misc. things., and then drove to the hotel to check in and unload my stuff in the room. After that I went down to Con Ops to pick up my staff badge and then went back upstairs to park the car at the metro station in leui of the hotel parking lot. On the ran out of the hotel ran into amazonmandy chatting with friends. A hug and a quick chat later I was out of the hotel to park the car.
- Arrived back about an hour later to get ready for the 1rst Bleach suit....realized I packed the wig, clogs, and hat but forgot the outfit it. (argh!). Got on the hotel shuttle to Reagan Int'l and took the metro to the station where I parked the car, drove back home, got the outfit, reparked the car at metro, metro'ed to Reagan Int'l, and caught the shuttle back to the hotel. At this point I had missed the 1pm photoshoot but there was always the Saturday shoot.
- Got into the Jiraiya outfit for the PvN Dance Off. Was nice to see where it was located because this is where I was going to be Saturday when it becomes the Green Room for the masquerade. Ran into anigirl15 and cosplayer Ishiki, and exchanged comments about the event and how the crowd was making it hard to see what was going on. The pirates ended up winning, but I think the ninja's provided a much better show with less effort. My orange frog plushie also went missing. Also, one the straps from the clogs broke off.
- Got into the Darcia outfit to wander around in, because I ran into the girl doing the Harmonia cosplay and told her I might get into the outfit tonight prior to the Ball. While walking around in the outfit a couple of staffers mentioned I should try and get into the Ball but I knew AB I'd never get past the gate with it, so I hung around outside and inspected the wares in the Artist Alley. Finally she showed up and she got her husband to take a picture with us. I really wish I hadn't accidentally tossed the new wig down the trash chute the weekend before.
- Crashed at about midnight-1am. Prior to crashing I saw people gathering for the PJ event (which I thought was on Saturday.)

Saturday:

- Finally got up at 5:30am. Both roommates snored...one horribly, sounding like one of those small Hondas with the modified tailpipes the kids love. I was lucky to maybe got an hour of sleep. Got on the hotel shuttle to Reagan Int'l and took the metro to the station where I parked the car, drove back home, got the staple gun to fix the clog, reparked the car at metro, metro'ed to Reagan Int'l, and caught the shuttle back to the hotel.
- By the time I got back the roommates were up and went to their staff stations, and I got the Urahara pressed and went downstairs prior to the photoshoot.
- The one thing I noticed about the Bleach cosplayers is they don't have the comradery that the Naruto cosplayers have. Still, it was a fun shoot and hopefully will be a future group gathering for me. One person actually complimented the outfit for having authentic anime colors. The cane sword needs me press time. Only unsheathed it maybe 2-3 times. Bailed out of the photoshoot during requests so I could get into the Jiraiya outfit. Ran into the Harmonia who was wondering if I would be at the Wolf's Rain photoshoot and I replied I would try.
- Got into the Jiraiya outfit and attended the Naruto gathering. Saw anigirl15, blufiredragon67,(much, much too short an encounter) and Ishiki again. Good fun but the wig was completely whacked at this point. Ironically I ran into tenshinoitami1 (who did the wig commission) and let her know I'd be sending it back her way to fix it. Bailed out of the photoshoot during requests so I could get ready to staff the Green Room.
- Getting into the Alan Gabriel outfit for the first time was interesting. I had never painted my face before and I only had maybe an hour to do it. After do the event in the Green Room and coming back to the hotel room I saw all the facepaint that rubbed off onto the collar of the shirt so that tells me I didn't seal it enough. But still it was fun to wear and I got lots of compliments from it. The event itself was fun, but I dead tired at the end. I wanted to more things, but I was out of it at that point.

- I did muster up enough energy to get back into the Jiraiya outfit to surprise amazonmandy doing a cute tupperware/bathtub cosplay down by the lobby bar. Hehe...she is so much fun :)

Sunday:

- Woke up around 7am. Got on the hotel shuttle to Reagan Int'l and took the metro to the station where I parked the car, drove back to the hotel, packed the car, and went home...to at least relax a little before heading off to work later that day.
