Oh good! You got me sooooo worried at the end of the last chapter. This is a reassuring development. Although I could have done without the Legolas Castamir incident. Outrageous! Poor Aragorn! I sincerely hope that this detour will not jeopardize the bond between Aragorn and Legolas. Tsk, tsk, tsk at the hedonistic elf for his intemperance!
I sincerely hope Aragorn was asleep and did not overhear his Vigil's method of finding relief - I fear it would shred the little self-confidence he has been allowed to retain. I also wonder if the harshness of Legolas' thoughts about the Heir's unfitness to take the throne are not an unconscious attempt on his own part to rationalize away his growing desire (along with its corollary, 'it's all an effect of the spell'). Although he is evidently correct in his assumption that Aragorn's education (in all areas) has been deliberately mismanaged, I have a feeling the Heir will manage to surprise him yet.
