LJ is hungry tonight

So I had this nice long post about SPN and the mistake the writers are making this season. And of course, LJ ate it.

Anyhoo, the gist of it was that I don't care about the mystery of what's wrong with Sam or whether Sam is really Sam or whatever, at least not enough to persuade me to continue watching a show starring Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester and Jared Padalecki as A Pod-Person Who Looks Like Sam Winchester. I don't want to watch Dean ride around in the Impala with Soulless!Sam or Lucifer!Sam or even Michael!Sam. I don't want to watch Dean try to figure out what's going on with Sam and fix it. I want to watch Dean and Sam be Dean and Sam, which means they can be at odds--hell, they practically have to be--but also means they have each other's backs, worry about each other, and would fight and die for each other.

The writers have one, maybe two, more episodes to not only explain what's up with Sam but to fix it and give us back Sam. Otherwise, I'm going to lose interest, and I predict that I'm far from the only fan at that point.

Oh, and for the record: I really liked "Weekend at Bobby's"--Jensen has a nice light comedic touch as a director--so I'm not in the "the show's not any good anymore" camp. It can be good, and I want it to be good. But withholding Sam in service of this "no one is what or who they seem" plotline isn't helping.
