A local jewellery store is carrying a (unauthorised) 9K gold replica of the One Ring, for about US$110. I checked the inscription, and found that it said:

One Ring to rule them all
One Ring to find them
One Ring to rule them all
One Ring to find them

...and on the inside...

One Ring to bring them all
And in the darkness bind them

No kidding! It's not like the inscription isn't on every other bit of toystuff on the planet. How hard would it be to get it right?

Yup! I've even seen cheap silver and rhodium rings that got the inscription right...

Until I noticed the faulty inscription, I was seriously thinking of buying this 9K replica! Just as well, I guess - US$110 for 9K gold is outrageous. The stuff is dirt cheap in English stores...

You can actually READ Tengwar, as well as understand the Black Speech that the quote is written in?? o.O

Of course not. :) But I've pretty much memorised what parts of the inscription look like, and can tell that they repeated sections of the ring-rhyme. The jeweller obviously didn't know the patterns *meant* something!

Black Speech is simple:

Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul,
ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul.

See? :) I hear it down in the canteen every day.
