Hmm...so this weekend...I got home friday and hung out at home for a couple hours then went to that lake. When I got there we had the bright idea of going barefooting. I did it, but I also busted hard, at about 45mph. I hit hard enough that when my hand hit my forehead it left a bump in the shape of my thumb and index finger, and that I kicked ( Read more... )

i've always wanted to try barefooting. is it hard? and how do you start?

It's not too hard, except for keeping your balance. The best advice, ride on your heels and point your toes up. We started by sitting on a kneeboard with our feet ahead of us, and you wait until the boat gets up to speed then you slowly stand up. I know one person that does it the same way, only by straddling a slalom ski, but she doesn't have the same constraints on ski placement as guys would. The kneeboard is probably the easiest. Trying to start out standing on skis then dropping them is really hard to do.

Oh yeah, the best time to try this is first thing in the morning, right before sunset, or right after it rains when the water is glassy smooth.
