Spoiler Warning : Chapters 45 to 48 of Gunslinger Girl

I've posted this at TFF and the Fanfiction Federation first. But eh... I have no problems with releasing unedited works on my LJ.

"The prince was not lonely any longer. The prince was overjoyed.

Because now he had many friends with whom he ate pasta."

The young girl sighed as she finished telling the story of the Prince of the Kingdom of Pasta to the sad man, who seemed much like other grown ups who cried while keeping all of their tears inside.

And this old man seemed so very sad and suffering so much pain.

She could only hope that it would cheer him up. She couldn't remember where she had heard that story before, but she knew that it would give courage even if one was sad.

She hoped that he didn't mind if she rested a little...

Yes, a short nap would be nice. And perhaps, later... she could take Pelo out for a walk...

Angelica yawned as she raised her head from where she was resting her head on a wooden table. She could smell the fragrance of freshly ground coffee beans in the room.

Blinking away the sharp sting of tears from her eyes, the young girl shook her head and took in the room that she was in.

A cafe... a rustic one, judging by the wooden walls and furniture. One that has been taken cared of with love. The window looking outside showed a vista of tall overgrown grass, and in the distance the blue of the sea meeting the heavens.

The blue heavens was broken only with puffy white clouds that moved slowly with the wind pushing them. A tiny voice in the back of her mind whispered that they were cumulus clouds.

The same wind spun the propeller on the small fish weathervane standing outside before the small sea of rustling green.

"Ah... welcome. Would you like some coffee while here?" The smile on the face of the lady with green hair was warm and welcoming, as of an older sister welcoming her younger home.

"Where am I? and who are you? If you don't mind my asking?"

"I don't mind," the aquamarine green hair in its style as it shook entuastically, brought a smile to Angelica as it reminded her of Rico for how active and cheerful it was. "I'm Alpha. And welcome to my cafe. It's the waiting place for those who go to Machine Heaven."

"Machine Heaven?"

"Machine Heaven. It's where all machines go after dying. It's our final resting place, a reward for having served well."

"I.... I'm dead?"

"Yes."

"It was at dusk, while the night claimed the winter sky, that Angelica passed away peacefully."

Author's Notes
I was reading the manga and... it's a damn sad manga. I just wish I could hug those girls and tell them that things will be better.

This poorly written fic is my attempt to do so.
