Summary: Every Saturday morning there is a mysterious boy who sits at the same spot in the little cafe that Yunho works at. Yunho, taken in by this boy's ethereal beauty, finds out his name is Kim Jaejoong and unfortunately he has a boyfriend! That doesn't stop Yunho from pursuing him. But Yunho soon finds out that Jaejoong has a deep, horrible secret.

He was there again, that boy. He always sat in the same seat by the window next to the row of flower pots. He ordered an iced mocha with no whip cream every time he visited. He was always by himself, sometimes gazing out the window next to him or glancing at the empty chair across from him. He was very beautiful but there was a very sad air about him.

“What would you like today?” Yunho felt silly even asking the boy’s order considering he knew exactly what he would get.

The boy looked up as if he was startled and then smiled a little, his lips turning upwards only the slightest bit. However that small change in expression was enough to make Yunho sigh on the inside: this guy is so damn pretty.

“An iced mocha, no whip cream please,” the boy’s voice was always rather soft, making Yunho lean his body closer instinctively, though he knew what the boy was going to say.

“Coming right up,” Yunho said cheerily. The boy only gave him another brief word of thanks before turning his head to the side once more to stare aimlessly out into the university commons.

As Yunho walked away he silently cursed his job as a waiter at the Helena coffee shop. There was no way he could hit on this guy while he was at work. He already got in trouble for flirting with customers before, though he had sworn to the manager he was just being friendly. Yunho really wanted to get to know this mysterious boy but he never saw the boy around campus either.

Yunho went to the barista and put in the order, “Yo, Changmin! Iced mocha no whip!”

Changmin immediately went to work with making the drink while Yunho looked around the store. It was always early mornings on Saturdays that the mysterious boy came to the Helena, a time when the shop was quiet and nearly empty.

Yunho leaned his body across the counter and stared baldly at Changmin. Changmin didn’t look up from mixing the chocolate syrup but he could sense Yunho’s eyeballs drilling into him. “Can I help you with anything else?”

“Geez, why so formal today Changmin?? Are you embarrassed I saw your drunken and disorderly conduct yesterday?”

Changmin shrugged. “This coming from the guy who danced on top of the table swinging his shirt over his head.”

Yunho grinned, “It was sexy, you know it.”

Changmin just laughed at him and concentrated on his work.

“Anyways, you see that hottie over there?” Yunho pointed with his chin to where the mysterious boy was sitting. “He comes in and orders the same thing every Saturday morning. He’s the whole reason I still take this shitty shift.”

Changmin stopped what he was doing with his hands and looked at Yunho. “You mean Kim Jaejoong?”
Yunho couldn’t hide his surprise, “You know him??”

Changmin shook his head, “Not so much know him but know of him. He’s going out with that guy from our grade, Lee Janghyuk.”

Yunho was dismayed, “Who the hell is Janghyuk? Damn I didn’t think he’d be taken!” But Yunho’s dismay only lasted a moment, “I guess it’s my job to steal him away then, huh?”

Changmin’s face was serious, “I wouldn’t mess with Kim Jaejoong if I were you.”

“Whyy??” Yunho didn’t seem to catch the gravity of Changmin’s tone.

Changmin went on, “I’ve heard a lot a stories about him and his boyfriend. They’re all rumors but still…none of them are good.”

“Wait what rum-” Yunho cut himself off, shaking his head. “Never mind it doesn’t matter.” Yunho wasn’t one to give into defeat so easily. “I don’t really care what people say, I’m going to go talk to him.”

With that Yunho grabbed the iced mocha Changmin handed him and marched over to Jaejoong’s table. He decided he didn’t really care if he got caught flirting with a customer again. For some reason he had a feeling that this boy was worth it.

Changmin watched Yunho walk away and clucked his tongue at his recklessness. Yunho sure lives life easily, Changmin thought to himself.

“Here you go, one iced mocha no whip, and best of all it’s free of charge!” Yunho set the glass of coffee down on Jaejoong’s table with a flourish.

Jaejoong looked up at Yunho widening his large eyes in surprise, “But why-”

Yunho cut him off, “Today’s a special day you know. The day my heart was taken by the prettiest boy on campus.”

Saying his cheesy line without one change in expression Yunho went ahead and pulled out the chair in front of Jaejoong and sat down.

Jaejoong eyes only got wider at Yunho’s actions and his face was a deep shade of pink as he blushed shyly.
“Kim Jaejoong right?” Yunho put his two hands under his chin and stared at Jaejoong frankly.

Jaejoong only nodded and looked a little nervous as if he didn’t know what to do. He’s so cute, Yunho thought to himself.

“My name is Jung Yunho. Don’t be fooled by the crappy waiter get-up. I’m a senior here studying architecture. What about you?”

Jaejoong hesitated but then he replied softly, “I’m a senior as well. I’m in the arts department specializing in painting.”

Yunho cocked his head, “A painter, huh? That’s pretty cool, can you paint a portrait of me?” He laughed a little but his laughter trailed off when he saw Jaejoong’s blank face. Yunho cleared his throat.

“Anyway, I wasn’t kidding around earlier. I think you’re really pretty and I want to get to know you better.” Yunho paused, “How bout I take you out to dinner tonight?” Then he smiled in what he thought was his most winning smile.

Jaejoong’s face was troubled. Yunho hurried to add, “I know you have a boyfriend but I swear I’ll treat you well. Just give me a chance.”

Jaejoong shook his head furiously, his black hair swishing from side to side. Yunho was briefly mesmerized by this slight movement but he quickly shook himself to pay attention to what Jaejoong was saying.

“No I’m sorry, my boyfriend and I are really happy. I wish I could accept you but I really can’t, I’m sorry.” Jaejoong looked genuinely apologetic as he looked into Yunho’s eyes.

Yunho shrugged. He hadn’t expected Jaejoong to come over to him so easily but this didn’t mean he was giving up.

“Okay well think about it. One of these days you’re going to ditch your boyfriend for me.” Yunho flashed his dazzling smile once more to let Jae know he didn’t mean it out of ill will. But he wasn't kidding either.

Yunho got up from the table and waved Jaejoong goodbye. Jaejoong turned his head away once more towards the window. As Yunho walked away he looked back towards the side profile of Jaejoong’s face and he could have sworn he was smiling.

Jaejoong without fail was in the same spot at the same time the next Saturday morning. He looked really tired and perhaps even paler than usual. But he was as beautiful as ever as the morning sun’s rays through the window cast a warm glow over his lithe body. Yunho smiled widely upon seeing Jaejoong.

“Let me guess, an iced mocha no whip?”

Jaejoong nodded. He was wearing a deep purple cardigan that offset his white skin. Yunho marveled at how soft and delicate Jaejoong’s neck appeared. What am I some sort of vampire??

After getting Jae’s drink for him Yunho once again sat in the spot opposite of him, ignoring Changmin’s disapproving glare and Jae’s nervous expression. He stared at Jae sucking lightly at his drink, the end of the straw disappearing between his full, pouty lips. Yunho gulped.

“So, any hobbies, likes, dislikes…?”

Jae looked at Yunho with his dark, piercing eyes. “I have a boyfriend.”

“I know, I know. Let’s just be friends…for now.”

Jae looked like he was going to say something but Yunho cut him off, “No seriously, let’s try the whole friend thing, yeah?” Yunho grinned and added, “You know we have some things in common. I used to paint back in kindergarten.”

When Jae didn’t stop him Yunho continued talking.

“I used to get a lot of awards for them too. ‘A for effort’, ‘Best improvement’, ‘Participation award’, you know, the works.” He winked at Jae.

Jae’s face twitched as if he was struggling not to laugh.

Yunho reached over and poked Jae in the cheek. “It’s okay to laugh. We’re friends right?”

Jae gave in and giggled softly with his hand covering his mouth and his eyes creasing in half moons. Wow, even his laughing face is pretty, Yunho thought.

“So why did you decide on painting?” Yunho asked.

Jae thought for a moment and replied in his lilting voice, “My mother was a painter. I guess I just got so used to the smell of acrylic and the feel of canvas as a child.” He had a faraway look in his eyes but quickly blushed as if embarrassed he revealed so much to Yunho.

Yunho smiled, “Your mom must be pretty proud of you, huh?”

Jae looked down and fiddled with his straw, “Yeah, maybe. I haven’t really talked to her for a few years.”
Yunho stared at Jae. He suddenly wanted to hold him in his arms but he restrained himself.

“You know why I went into architecture?”

Jae looked up at him and cocked his head a little.

“My little sister had a severe form of muscular dystrophy as a child so it was really hard for her to get around. Jihae was always pushed on a wheelchair but she often told me that someday she’d get better and walk and run around like everyone else.”

Yunho paused, “Jihae said she was gonna live in a house with lots of stories and stairs when she grew up kind of like a fairytale house I guess. This was for when she was all better and could move around freely, of course.” Yunho chuckled a little at the memory.

Jae smiled a little but his eyes were sad.

Yunho went on, “I always said I’d build that house for her. A really big one made of brick like you see in the states.”

“Did your sister get better?” Jae asked quietly.

Yunho shook his head slowly, “She died at 17, two years ago.”

Jae looked like he was going to cry and Yunho just grinned sheepishly, “Dang, sorry for the sob story. I don’t know, it’s not just for her I’m doing architecture though. It’d also be cool if I could build a house for someone I love too you know? Raise our family there and stuff.”

Jaejoong still looked really sad and Yunho didn’t want pity from him. “Anyways,” Yunho quickly changed the subject. “How come you never get the whip cream with your drink?” And he immediately berated himself for thinking of such an inane question.

But Jaejoong seemed to be actually thinking of an answer for that. “Well I’ve always had a sweet tooth. But my boyfriend always tells me he doesn’t want me to get fat. So I get the mocha without the whip, kind of like a compromise I guess.” It was Jae’s turn to laugh embarrassedly.

Yunho frowned and was about to say something but stopped at the scared look on Jaejoong’s face.
