The Day Before the Day of Reckoning

Tomorrow is the day I wrestle Mike Matsui at Charlotte Catholic to settle our $500 bet. There could be a decent crowd. For some reason Sui didn't expect anyone would be there. Dude, WTF? Your life is crazy. Wrestling matches, $500 bets -- what's the story here? And did you win???

By the way, way back in '96, Matt Meehan and I were once stopped by Matthews cops for walking around late at night at the totally abandoned intersection of McKee and Weddington Roads. The cop later told us that we "matched a description" of some hoodlums who'd committed some petty crime or other earlier that night in the same area.

Best part was, I didn't have any ID on me. I told the cop my name, and he went into his cruiser to look it up on his dashboard computer, or whatever. He came back out of the car and said, "You'd better tell me what your real name is." Turns out, he was spelling it "Bradly". How many time must I tell people that I am not an adverb? "Bradly, he walked to the store."

Also during this time my confidence grew and I wanted to up the bet. I asked him how much he was willing to bet and he came back with $500.00. I said I'd give him time to think about it and in a few days he agreed. Finally on March 22 we battled it out with throws landing with booms of thunderclaps and double-leg take downs as quick as lightning, imagery worthy of the two titans we are. Okay that may be a little bit of hyperbole but you can judge for yourself. I'm ( ... )
