She deleted all of her comments from my post. But little does she know all of them were saved in my inbox xD
Here's an account of what happened:
I posted to
daily lolita thisghostlife commented:
I think the bow is a little too head eating for natural kei (classic evolved from natural kei anyway). The headeating bows are more of a sweet lolita thing and I don't think work well with classic styles (corsages and hats are more fitting). The bow seems a little off with the rest of the coordinate. Otherwise I think it is great. I would not call it mori though, mori is pretty shapeless.
I replied:
Note that I said Mori/ Natural Kei ***"inspired"*** I'm not wearing a classic style either~
I appreciated your opinion though!
thisghostlife commented AGAIN:
The coordinate still looks more classic than anything, and the head-eating headbow still seems very out of place IMHO. Outside of some OTT sweet coordinates the very large headbow, usually looks very out of place.
and right after thisghostlife commented AGAINNNNNN
Especially the corsage with the headbow...just a little to much. You should have kept the corsage and ditched the headbow.
I replied (irritated at this point):
Haha really? You might be giving me your opinion, but I could obviously care less about what you think xD
Like I said, its inspired.
The fact that you further continued to explain yourself makes me believe that you do not understand this word :3 Therefore I will add a link to the dictionary definition of the term: Inspired.
http://dictionary.reference.com/bro wse/inspired I hope you eventually learn this term, and are able to use it in your day to day life ^^
thisghostlife commented:
I know what the term means pretty damned well, but I am sticking by my original point. And as inspired as you call the outfit, the bow looks very out of place with the coordinate as a whole and throws off any resemblence of balance and ends up making the look as a whole rather tacky. Head eating bows may work for OTT sweet, but they look really awkward in other coordinates no matter how "inspired" they may be. If you don't like an honest critique that's fine, and if you want me to be more blunt let me put it this way.
From the neck down YOU ARE doing a classic coordinate, whether you like to call it natural-kei/mori inspired or whatnot, and the head eating bow is tacky and out of place and just plain looks bad. On a whole it makes it look like somebody is doing something wrong and is unfamiliar with Classic or Natural Kei in general. Basically the oversized bow in this case is rather Ita. There, cruel, but if you wanted to get at me with dictionary terms fine, but the bow doesn't belong in this coordinate, it throws it off in a bad way.
followed by another comment:
If you don't care what others think that's fine, but it seems to me you were fishing for compliments and responded to the critique with snark. To me you would look great if you lost the tacky ott headbow. Obviously you cannot take constructive criticism, especially of an otherwise lovely coordinate.
Then carla (ugly_kitties) commented:
is it really that serious? your tl;dr comment seems to be skewed on the side of being wrong lol
thisghostlife replied:
Not really, to me this seems to be a person who is used to doing ott sweet screwing up a more natural kei classic coordinate. I stress the word screwing up. The giant headbow does not bring it back to lolita, it throws in an poorly chosen out of place element for everything else that is going on. Then again this is from somebody who does exclusively classic, and some more natural kei variations. This is why I think one should know substyles well first and focus, because this is fanned good example of somebody who probably does sweet having an improperly balanced coordinate outside of sweet. (if you are talking about natural kei its classic, inspired or not)
meanwhile I get really pissed and comment:
Excuse me, miss 30 year old woman-doesn't-have-anything-to-do-in-her-l ife-besides-criticize-other-individuals-o n-the-interwebz. OBVIOUSLY your point seems quite derogative in a sense that you feel the need to give me your input being a "classic lolita" know-it-all. First of all, I never said this was a classic piece. You apparently decided to give it that label. That was a mistake on your part.
Second of all your snooty opinions on everything "sweet" (including other posts I've seen you comment on) are biased and just plain ignorant. You don't seem to be very open minded on any other type of lolita fashion other than classic. Shame on you dear, most girls who are in this fashion seem to appreciate other styles other than the ones they favor. So I suggest you get that high and mighty stick out of your ass, and learn to accept the fact that not everyone sees it the way you do.
Lastly, how dare you call me an ITA. How dare you say I'm unfamiliar with both classic and natural-kei styles. For someone who has been apart of this community for only 2 months, you seem to apparently know everything about life itself. Take it from someone who has been into this fashion for 5 years now, girls who think they can act like an elitest are usually seen as snooty bitches. And you m'am, are the most snobbishly aloof, haughty, nose stuck in the air, bitchy person I have ever regretted mildly knowing on the internet.
Good day.
And then thisghostlife says:
Ah, a reaction. You invited me too tear you apart with the snark, you could have left what I said at that, and you posted to an online community NOT expecting constructive criticism and just fishing for compliments, fine. I have no shame in being called elitist or a snooty bitch. because quite frankly I know who I am. How dare I call you an ita, seems I hit a raw nerve...good because its obvious you do care no matter how much you say you don't.
Someone named tokudama came in and said:
Did you really have to bring age into it, what does it matter how old she is?
I replied to tokudama:
No I didnt, but it's what crossed my mind at the time~
Then thisghostlife replies to tokudama:
I do not care if she did. I have been doing intentional fashion longer than most people here. This is one of many I have done. Truth be told this is where some of the elitist attitudes come from, at least I own up to them, and while I may alienate some that is fine. I can live with it.
Tokudama owns thisghostlife:
I didn't mention it for your sake.
I respond to thisghostlife above:
xD Anyway, your comments amuse me.
Just so you know, whenever I see you post to d_l, I'm going to give you some "constructive criticism" in the manner you gave me. So make sure your coordinate is flawless :3
thisghostlife's reply was:
Subject: like i care
Lovely, because you will probably never see it. I am notoriously photo shy, and even when I take photos I don't like posting them in public. Yeah, I am pretty aware I am snarky myself. With regards to the details in person looking better...that I can believe. Either way I can live with people being critical, even of my personality. Just you are not going to get many opportunities on how I look. As far as the iw examples, iw does both sweet and classic, one example is more sweet...
I did have a problem with the rest of the coordinate, but I didn't find it that experimental either. In terms of cookie cutter view, far from it, but the girls doing classic coordinates and calling them Mori or natural kei inspired is to common, sqince classic evolved from, and still shares much with natural kei. There is nothing experimental going on here, as lovely as the coordinate is. As far as textbook view far from it, I think there is flexibility, but this whole mori crossover/inspired thing just comes off as classic lolita. Despite what the op intent was. Honestly I am not angry, personally this is me being blaise, I do own up to my personality faults, and yeah I am a snarky bitch. She can wear what she wants...and honestly I liked everything else that was going on. I think that was completely missed.
Then chokelate commented seperately on my photo:
I wouldn't really call this lolita, however I really like it! Yay for creativity :)
thisghostlife barges in and says Actually I care to disagree on it not being lolita. Actually it is more transitional-classic lolita look. It looks roughly similiar to coordinates I have seen where natural kei/pink house left off and what became classic lolita picked up. Despite the head bow drama, I think as a coordinate it has great things going on from it from that perspective. I just wouldn't call it inspired, its a damn good natural-kei/classic coordinate. You can still find layered-look classic coordinates like this occasionally from some classic brands that harken back to a more natural-kei look. My JetJ lookbook is filled with them. Thats why I think the inspired term may have been a little off. The silhoutte is not clear in the photographs, but the silhoutte doesn't always come off well in these coordinates in photographs. I just think it would have looked better without the headbow, especially considering how great her hair was. The wavy hair was a nice change of pace.
Bijoujou commented on her "I worked for international fashion blahblah"
Oh god, I didn't understand why everyone was giving you shit, but youv'e been doing international fashion more than others here?
Do you know how broad that it is? Alright, lets see you in a Sari!
Their reply was: I meant to say intentional fashion, basically various forms of alternative fashion. That may have been accidentally autocorrected by my phone.
Then Aly (miss_lumpy) respnonds to thisghostlife
Hmm, so basically your contribution to this community is only ever going to be snarky comments and not actual content. Isn't that sweet.
And the reason your appreciation of "everything else" in the outfit was probably "completely missed" is because you spent four sentences harping on her bow and the fact that she incorrectly drew inspiration from other fashions (wut? how can you tell someone that something didn't inspire them?) and a few words saying you liked the rest. It would have been easy to add more positive comments to get your point more accurately across.
Thisghostlife replies: Subject: Re: like i care
You know what, much of what I thought was better said below in a later comment. I deleted the rest. I will leave it at that.
I am sorry for alot of what I said.
Then she deleted her above comments......honestly she could have left it at my "I appreciate your opinoin comment" but she didnt. And she pissed me off.
