Heh heh, thanks! The idea for spoiler lj-cuts, kind of forced me to write the whole post. All the other details kind of blossomed around it.
Really? The 2nd movie? It felt so ... enh? I don't know what it was, but there were so many unsatisfying plot elements. I didn't like the cannibals, or the overabundance of fishmen, or the plethora of CG tentacles. Then again, the cliffhanger ending where Mr. Familiar suddenly appears was great.
it's a glass "factory". I'm not sure how much is actually made on site. But they have a restaurant as well. I don't know how best to describe the food...I seem to recall them having good sandwiches for lunch. They have a website and a menu...

I liked the second one better, though. I felt that the various threads came together in a more satisfying (if cliffhanger-y) fashion.

Agreed all-around, plus I hated the swordfight on the wheel.
All that aside, I thought that the plot was tighter and the character arcs were much cooler in the 2nd movie. And of course I loved the ending.
