Teteven is the other city that I love and like Plovdiv i think that there is no other. While Plovdiv is in South Bulgaria, Teteven is in North.

Municipality Teteven is situated in the region of Lovech, 120 km away from Sofia. It is situated on an area of 703 sq.km, including 13 settlements.
Municipality’s population is about 25 000 people, and Teteven’s - about 12 000 people.
Municipality’s territory is situated in a beautiful valley along the Vit river, it is surrounded by the peaks Petrahil, Cherven, Treskavets.
The municipality varies from 340 to 2100 m above sea-level, in the town of Teteven it is 415 m. The climate is temperate-continental - the winter is comparatively mild, the summer - cool, and the beautiful peaks surrounding the town keep it out from fogs and winds. The peak Vejen /2 198 m/ - the third highest peak in Stara Planina is situated in the eastern part of the Zlatishko-Teteven mountain.
An important factor for the development of the municipality is the tourism. There are some big hotels and many private lodgings and country houses.
The natural riches of the region offer perfect conditions for hunting and fishing, skiing, alpine marches and mountaineering.
Interesting sights of Teteven are: the historical museum, the church “Vsiah Svetii” and the chapel next to it, the “St. Ilia” monastery built in XIV century, the picture-gallery in the centre of the town, the monastery of Glojen “St. Georgi”, built in XIII century during the reign of Czar Ivan Asen II; the ancient houses - Bobevskata, Iorgovata and Hadji Ivanovata; the place of death of Georgi Benkovski in Kostina - Ribaritsa and of Sava Mladenov in Koznitsa - Teteven and others. The touristic bureau - Teteven, which is situated in the centre of the town, offers to you various information: accommodation - in cosy private country houses, family hotels, holiday homes, resort complexes and huts; restaurants; natural and historical sights; transport connections; possibility of hunting and fishing; of having a guide and a mountain guide, rent-a-bike, visiting and meeting masters - wood-cutters, weavers, saddlers and others.
Natural sights
“The valley of Teteven is enchanted, unbelievably beautiful!”-Felix Kanits
The Teteven region’s nature is truly unique, fascinating, picturesque, exceptionally various, with a beautiful flora and fauna. Century-old woods, steep, in some places even vertical rocks, meadows, waterfalls, caves.
There is a great variety of over 600 species of flowers in the biospheric reserve “Tsarichina”. Some of them are included in the Bulgarian Red Book. Pleasant touristic paths lead to both neighbouring reserves - “Boatin” and “Kozia Stena”. Closely situated are also the lodges “Georgi Benkovski”, “Echo” and “Vejen”.
A real paradise for the ornithologists is the protected area “Cherniat Rut”, where a variety of birds can be observed.
