actually, a lot of the people in New Orleans didn't want to go. You have to remember that most of the city is literally fringe of society, like huts and tents and shit. They have nothing, including no money to leave even if they did want to. When everything they have is in the city, there's not enough to leave, or you're too sick to move, you just don't leave. That said, I think what's happening is horrendous, but I'm not sure there was much more that could've been done besides preventative measures that should've been in place years ago. But, since LA is the poorest state in the Union, I'm not all that surprised. To me, it just seems to be a case of bad timing, poor planning, and flat out bad luck.

sarah hayden, despite your idiotic demeanor, you're really very articulate and intelligent. way to fool 'em.
also, matty mo, it sounds like you and this melissa woman are getting along quite splendidly, and it ALSO sounds like you're getting married and not returning to nu. if this is the case, can i come to the wedding? if it is not, do not fear, you made it through the first year, so the second should be a slightly less rocky, somewhat less painful, crappy, three-day-old-dried-out-little-debbie-snack-cake kind of cakewalk.
at least, that's what i'm counting on. we'll lean on each other when we can't lean on our significant others.
