Just a word of warning: these pictures are large, blurry, and taken with a cellphone with a 1.3 megapixel camera, so they are not the best quality. There are only 4 of them, two from each night, but they give you a good idea of where I was standing/sitting both nights.

-Bruce and Patti performing Magic on the first night, taken from the pit rail.

-Bruce AND MY INDEX FINGER, but I can't remember what he was saying. This may have been the start of Livin in the Future, but I'm not quite sure. You can see a blurry Steven, Garry, Max, and a shadowy Nils & Clarence off to the side there.

-The whole blurry band. Cannot recall which song this was, possibly Last to Die. Not sure, though. Taken from the surprise!front row of section 115. That back platform looks a lot closer than it actually was - it was maybe 12 feet away from the rail or so.

-The very end of Devil's Arcade, during Max's solo. They cut the lights on all the band members but Max, and focused, I guess, four lights on him, so that his shadow was cast on both sides of the arena in four spots. The band members come around him so all you see from the front are their silhouettes, so the focus is literally on "the beat of your heart." It lasted at least 10 seconds, maybe longer, and it really felt like an eternity before Bruce motioned for him to cut it. I love this song on the album, and this is possibly my favorite part of the tour.

I was actually a little worried about taking my mom on the second night, as she's a really casual fan (so casual that she barely knew Thunder Road when he started playing that), and only got into him because of the politics and messages in Magic, but she really enjoyed herself. She liked being able to see the behind-the-scenes stuff almost as much as she liked the concert itself, and she ended up liking "the fiddler," "the drummer," and "the sax player" (her words, not mine) quite a lot. A little grossed out by the sponge drinking (when he finally drank from one of the Solo cups laid out by the tub, I was like, "He did that just for you"), but she also liked Bruce tossing his guitar to Kevin (I think she got a little worried when Bruce nearly beaned Kevin in the head that one time, though). As expected, Walter Reed got their shoutout and seats last night. Saw someone giving the four or five guys seated by the stage something small, so I'm guessing they were getting guitar picks, and the kid of one of the guys got Bruce's harmonica (the guy seemed as excited as the little boy, which was cute). Garry kept on going over and dancing with Patti, and Stevie was sneaking all over the stage like some kind of bandana-wearing shark or something (incidentally, I almost wrote "banana-wearing shark," which is not what I would have meant to write at all). And where we were sitting, we could see the whole band entering and exiting from back stage, and after they left, Bruce and Patti came back out with their oldest son and had some kind of mimed conversation with someone in the section right behind Max. They each kind of said something like, "This is my boy," all proud-like, and then from what I could see, Patti was miming (and possibly saying?) something like how she remembers when he was just a baby and now he's taller than his dad (imagine that with miming, like her "holding" a baby, and then her pointing out that he's tall).

And that's it. I'll be done until the possible (probable) stadium leg in the spring/summer. Now I've got homework, class discussions, work work, and Nano (!!!) to catch up on. I'm still a little buzzed from those two nights, though. Really great shows.
