12. The Ballad of Jesse James
Yeah, Jesse he was a bad boy
He won the wilder west
And many notches on his gun, as the year of 21
Someone laid him to an early rest
Another older song, this time from 1971. It's pure southern rock, which is fun considering he hadn't really left NJ at this point. There's some really great guitar work on this song, including a neat little solo starting around the 3:50 mark. This is one of my favorite pre-ESB songs (although a lot of the people working on this track would later become members of the ESB).
