Drew has discontinued the complimentary condom basket at Health Services. The rep from Drew says this happened because some people were taking large quantities of condoms and that someone stole the basket itself

I'd also suggest a strongly worded letter to the editor of the Acorn. Alum letters to the editor tend to get a lot of notice.

I'd be happy to contribute a box of condoms. Maybe we can go WoCo alums involved? And Emily Cooper did peer health, I'm sure she'd be interested in what's happened. I'll send her a link to this post.

Now, I will preface this by saying that I don't agree with this and I absolutely think the free condoms at Drew are a glorious thing and VERY important

Annie, I absolutely agree with you that Drew should provide comprehensive sex education AS WELL AS condoms. Gigi and I are trying to take our show to Drew, which might help a little bit in that regard. I also agree that if they're going to cut the free condoms there should be other ways (BESIDES asking your RA) to get them - vending machines, etc.

As for class vs. condoms, obviously Drew is a school so they have to prioritize classes. I haven't seen their budget so I don't know which line the Health Services cuts would benefit.

My college's student health service (U of MN) has the standard condom basket out, but also has little wall-mounted clear boxes on the wall of every exam room filled with condoms. I would always get weirded out about walking up to the basket on the desk, but would totally grab a handful in the exam room while waiting for the doctor.

Get those condoms to those kids and have them fuck safely! Every time!

From my personal experience, I think it's helpful to offer an anonymous way to get condoms. Before I became so wonderfully self-possessed (har har) I was really nervous about buying condoms.
