After watching the comm for a couple of weeks and thinking about it a lot, I've decided to put our reading on hiatus for a while. It's a big job to keep up with, even with the help of my fellow mods, and there just doesn't appear to be much interest, which is totally okay. Summer months are hard for communities. I look forward to more reading a discusssing. What we did in our Tolkien group is let the readers be guest mods and lead the discussion. I'm not sure it made for more interest but do remember that there are many people who actually read along faithfully but do not ever comment at all. Odd but true!

I've not had that happen in the reading community but I wrote a very short little story and someone very rudely troe it apart at another Holmes Community. I've actually rather enjoyed this community.

I'm not making a judgment against this community in any way. I'm just trying to explain why someone might be content to read along without offering their comments. If you've encountered nastiness in the past, even if it was at another place or even in another fandom altogether, the experience stays with you. Once burned, twice shy... These old adages do have truth to them.

I'm sorry someone tore apart your story. :(
