No, when we found him, or actually when he found us, he wasn't wearing a collar at all. Biscuit has been kind enough to let him borrow her harness so that he doesn't follow our car out onto the highway when we leave the house. =/ The only thing he was wearing when he showed up was about a dozen ticks. I'd say he'd been out wandering for quite a while.
So far he's only met them through a fence. The only one that seems interested in the whole gathering is Biscuit.
I really don't know if we'll keep him or not, but I'll at least keep him around for a while until we find something else for him. One of my co-workers who has a few beagles already is going to talk to her husband about him. He's now been bathed and de-wormed although I don't think he liked the bath at all.
Beagles are fantastic, patient, and brilliant. They are NOT easy to train as they would rather pay attention to their nose so you have to WORK hard at being more exciting than technicolor scents. Clicker training works amazingly well for training them. Also the hardest thing is YOU and the family being consistant. If you ever ONCE allow them to do something you don't want them to do they know you can be worn down and they will PUSH. brushette has been caught pushing chairs across the room to be able to get up on the table or on the counter top to get at food.
Buddy got to go for a ride today in the car to the vet's office. I was still at work, but David said he was quite exited about it. They scanned him for a chip, and there wasn't one. I didn't think there would be, so that didn't really help our situation, but at least now we know for sure.
