Lore was sitting on the pool table in the quad. Okay, so maybe it wasn't technically a chair, but it had a great view of the TV. Being on the short side, she always had a hard time seeing over people's heads. That made the pool table her ideal seat.

Well, apart from being a Sorceress, but she really didn't like to think about that because, well, she didn't feel like it was her. She was Rinoa Heartilly, period. If she had to deal with the Sorceress aspect of her life, she would. Otherwise, she just wanted to be herself.
Puckering her lips against dreary thoughts, she swung her legs out and examined her toenails again. She'd probably spend the night painting them another color, just because she could. "Me too. I was taking a walk outside and I realized I just did not want to be by myself."
Glancing over, she smiled impishly. "I was going to go terrorize Squall, but I ended up here instead. I guess his ritual daily torture session will have to wait."

It was best to just pretend that the boys across the room weren't very obviously trying to scope her out. Maybe see if she sprouted an extra head or four. After all, it would just simultaneously irritate and depress her, and she'd always found that holding two strong emotions in one body at the same time guaranteed messy results.
Kind of like the time she'd been weeping because of something her father had said, and then had thrown a priceless vase at his door. Yeah, messy ( ... )

Maybe she could surprise Squall with that! Though... why would he really care? Better to find something that she intended to give back to him and get it fixed up. Or something.
Dropping the ring, she considered. Squall probably wouldn't want to do anything at the festival. He would only go, she was sure, to make her happy. Which meant it was entirely up to her to get him there, drag him around the events, and make sure he had at least some semblance to fun.
"If it's the last thing I do," she began darkly, "I'll get Squall to the festival. Unless, of course, he has a mission... but I really hope he doesn't. I need some quality time with my boyfriend, you know ( ... )

Knowing that, she couldn't say why she fell for people like Seifer and Squall. They were soldiers, there was no doubt. They'd pledged themselves to that before they'd even met her, and somehow, something about them had called to her. She liked to think it was their personalities, though looks were a big part of it. Still, she'd recognized something in both of them.
Vulnerability. A need that she'd been able to fill. She'd fallen recklessly, headlong into infatuation with Seifer, and when that flame had ( ... )

"I think that's also why my mother didn't WANT this to appeal to me," she offered with a shrug. Her mother had been less than thrilled when Lore announced that she wanted to go to Garden. She could still remember how her mother had stayed upstairs with a headache for four straight days the week before Lore left. Lore supposed she couldn't blame her, especially when she tried looking at it with the new perspective Rinoa had offered.
You couldn't ask someone to change what made them, them. But it didn't mean that you could stop it from driving you nuts, either.
