Lore was practically bouncing as she walked -well, almost ran - to meet Zell by the front doors. Okay, she was excited. But she had big news that she wanted to share. She had passed her SeeD exam. Not just ( Read more... )

After getting Lore's email, Zell was pretty pumped to actually go do something that had potential to be real interesting. An adventure? Sounded awesome! He quickly pulled on his gloves and shoes before dashing down the halls to meet Lore at the front.

When Lore came into view, he waved and called out to her as he continued approaching.

Lore bounded over to Zell, giving him a big hug. "I passed!" she exclaimed. "I passed! On the first try!"

A bit startled by the hug, Zell almost was thrown off balance. Returning the hug with a pat on the back, Zell replied, "You did?! Awesome! Congrats!! See, told ya it wasn't that bad."

Lore nodded. "I know, it really wasn't," she replied. "It wasn't tricky. You either knew what you were doing, or you didn't. Now..." she said, drawing the word out for suspense. "We are commemorating this day. By getting me a tattoo." She said it matter of factly, but finished by looking at him questioningly, as if saying, 'please?'. She had tried to talk Addy into it, who only winced at the idea and refused.

Lore could feel her energy start bubbling up again when he said they were almost there. She was excited at the idea of finally getting her first tattoo, something she had been waiting to do for awhile.

Lore watched as Zell greeted people he passed. "Wow, you know everyone," she said in surprise. She supposed it did make sense. Balamb was a small town, after all. Still, she had grown up in Deling, which was anything but small, and the idea of recognizing almost everyone you passed on the street kind of shocked her.

"Well, it's a pretty small town. Besides, I always kinda stick out," he explained. Finally, he stopped in front of a tiny little shop that was placed in such a way that you wouldn't really notice it unless you were looking for it. It completely baffled Zell why they didn't try to find a better location, but business seemed to go well for them anyways.

"Well, this is it!" Zell grinned as he waved to Lore to follow him inside.

Lore grinned excitedly. She was a little nervous, but it was a good kind of nervous. It was the anticipation of finally going through with it.

It was a cute little shop, hidden away. She had probably walked right by it and never even noticed. She followed Zell inside, looking around. It seemed nice - nothing scary or unclean. There were some posters on the walls, various ideas for the customers. Lore scanned one near her. There was a sun that was kind of cool. It wouldn't be a bad tattoo for a stomach, or right above an ankle.

"Hey, Chuck!" Zell waved to the tattoo artist. Before Chuck could ask, Zell said, "This is Lore. She just passed her written SeeD examination, and now she's ready for her first tattoo!"

Lore giggled, watching Zell. He was high energy. It almost seemed to contrast his build. He was short, but he was thick and muscular. Even more, Lore realized now that he was shirtless, than she had thought. There was something humorous about seeing such a broad, tough-looking guy get so excited. "Don't squirm too much, chief," she warned teasingly.

She put her hat back on, eyeing the bandage on her left arm. She wanted to take it off and look, but she knew she wasn't supposed to.

Zell was right, it hadn't really hurt. It stung a little, and now it felt a little funny. Sort of raw, like a carpet burn. But it wasn't terribly painful; she hadn't wanted to faint or cry or anything nearly as dramatic as she expected.

"Did your mom like yours?" she asked.

Arms hugging the back of the chair, Zell eagerly bounced his leg. "Well, she was kinda against the idea," Zell replied. "But she let me get it anyways, after I sat through this loooooong speech on how it's permanent and all that, and then she brought me here to get it!"

Chuck finally started working on Zell's tattoo. Zell couldn't help but giggle slightly. Not that it tickled... Of course the needles didn't tickle. It was more a mix of the excitement and the strange feeling that resulted in Zell's giggle.

"That's awesome that she let you do it," Lore said. "I don't think anyone's parents really WANT them to go get a tattoo." She tried to imagine her sister Dolmi's reaction - Dolmi would love it. She doubted her mother would be pleased, but Lore wasn't TRYING to upset anyone...she just...did what she did.

When Zell giggled, Lore almost lost it. She hid her mouth behind her hand, trying hard not to laugh. But Zell, bouncing around and giggling like a little kid, was just too much, and a laugh escaped. She clamped her mouth shut, until the urge had passed.

Noticing that Lore was laughing at his excitement, Zell's giggle turned into a laugh. He knew how ridiculous he probably looked, but that never stopped him. Zell was in an excellent mood, so he had no problem laughing with Lore at himself. "Geez, Zell, sit still!" Chuck commanded.

"Sorry, sorry," Zell apologized, trying to calm himself down. Taking a glance at Lore, he asked, "How's it look so far?"

Lore nodded. From anyone else, it might have been a strange thing to ask. But she had just watched Zell squirm all over despite the fact that someone was trying to put a needle into his skin in a very intricate pattern, and knew it was a serious request.

"You can count on me," she answered dryly. "I'll sit on you if I have to." Though she said it absolutely deadpan, she looked up at him with a hint of humor in her eyes. The differences in their size alone made the thought amusing to her.

"Alright!" Zell replied with a thumbs up. "Thanks! Though, I'm kinda hopin' you won't have to go that far..." He slipped his hands into his back pockets as he continued to walk towards Garden, hoping that if his hands were behind his back, maybe he'd be less antsy.

Lore giggled at the way Zell acted like he took her seriously. Zell was such a trip. "Do you drink, like, a ton of coffee or something?" she teased. "Are you hopped up on caffeine right now?"

"Caffeine? Huh, that pop might'a had some in it," he thought. "I didn't really check." It took a moment for him to make the connection between Lore's comment and his seemingly constant supply of energy. "But no, I'm just always like this!" he added with a sheepish grin. "It's natural, I guess."
