What: SeeD ball
When: Er, day of the ball!
Where: The Quad

Dancing wasn't his 'thing', so to speak, and North wouldn't have come if he hadn't been asked. He'd rather be back in his room studying and prepping for when the ball would be a celebration of the day he graduated. But he wasn't going to stand the ( Read more... )

Dante had been standing at the refreshment table behind North, and heard the entire exchange. He couldn't help but snort when the girl walked away. He hadn't seen the embarrassed look on her face, which might have made him feel a little sorry for her. He had only heard North's abrupt dismissal, and his complete frankness amused him. "You cut right to the point, don't you?" he said with a trace of humor in his voice.

(OOC: Yay! Someone to write with. :)

Eyes tracing the path of the retreating girl, he shrugged, turning to address the person behind him. "No point in being any other way. Some people only understand point blank, and I'm not interested in having the girl think she's got a chance when she doesn't. Better to have her hate me, than to moon over me and waste her time and feelings."

His motives were't entirely selfish. And damned if he wasn't feeling marginally guilty for accepting her invitation to begin with when he had no intention of letting it go further than this night. Only a fool wouldn't notice it was what Janet was looking for. Though he couldn't figure out why. He didn't have time for dating, didn't pretend otherwise. SeeD was his focus right now, and until he made it there, he didn't need any distractions. The academy wasn't a dating service.

Dante just shook his head a little, amusement still tracing along his features. He supposed it could have sounded a little cocky, a little smug from the other guy - as if he knew he was worth 'mooning over'; that he was a real catch and he owed it to the women to let them off the hook early.

Then again, he supposed, it may have been a normal response. Dante wasn't exactly the sort of person that a girl ever pined over.

"I guess," he agreed easily. "I guess I'm usually on the other end of that game - the one chasing my tail looking for a sign from someone who can barely remember my name. It's Dante, by the way," he informed him, though his open expression made it clear he wasn't particularly wounded by any past female rejection that may have occured.

"North. And it's not like I'm being chased by girls. I just don't have time to date."

His uncle once told him that a person made time for what they wanted to. Right now, he wasn't interested in making time for dating. Relationships screwed with your emotions and stole valuable time he could be used preparing for SeeD exams. If and when he became a SeeD, he'd worry about it then. It wasn't as if he was getting old anytime soon.
