I landed here accidentally, (well I don't believe in coincidence, so there must be a reason I am here)and I am peeing myself laughing at this post. This is freaking funny. Thanks for the giggle. I hope your friends didn't regift the monkeys, and if so, I hope I'm not on their Christmas list for next year.

i love this story!

it's well written too. you should write short stories or make an internet comic or something. UNLESS you already have one. in that case, my bad.

Not at all! I should really find the original author and credit. Bit it's one of those internet things that got passed around so much ownership was lost.

Alas, I wish I could take credit for it- but this is an old internet thing that was circulated and the author was lost in obscurity.

I fail to see how that was racist.

Unless that lady was misreading "monkeys" as "honkeys."

Great story!

Some racists use the word 'monkey' to refer to black people. Former roommate probably just glanced at the sheet, saw "dead monkeys" and leapt (across the mighty gorge of asshattery!) to an erroneous conclusion.

Alternately (i.e., the polite version), she was going through some tough stuff elsewhere in her life and as a result read far, far too much into the piece.
