One might say that I am irked, frustrated, irritated, or irate. They would be wrong. What I am is ROYALLY PISSED! I am extremely sick of neurotic parents trying to keep the apron strings tied to their adult children for too long. Exactly what part of "legal adult" don't they understand? Or, what about "I've been at college for the past 9 months, I ( Read more... )

That's ridiculous! Mrs. Jentzen won't let Julie go and visit HER BROTHER? *sigh* That is really fricking stupid.
Sorry the Cape Cod plans didn't work out. *hugs to everyone who's weekend was ruined*

Oh my god... that is SO ridiculous! You guys had been planning the trip for HOW long, and only NOW mommy dearest decides she can't bear to let her precious baby pumpkin go? That's completely and totally inconsiderate to both her daughter and everyone else planning the trip. If she wanted to forbid it, she should have forbidden it at the beginning, and not let everyone get strung along thinking that the trip was on. Talk about passive aggressive, manipulative, and rude!

If it were me, I would say, "Tough luck, Mom, I'll see you next week."

That's SO incredibly inconsiderate. What a dishrag.

umm... not to kinda of be the dissenting voice here (becasue I basically agree with you that Julie is a grown-up and the Jentzen's need to back the fuck off) but I feel compelled to point out that 1. the cape cod cottage belongs to Mr. and Mrs. Jentzen. It's not some apartment Dan is renting with his own money, and considering that they still have the right to at least a little say in their children's lives. Yes, they are un-reasonably controlling, but also, as long as Dan and Julie are finacially dependent on them it's kind of thier right. And 2. They didn't actually know that anyone else would be going up except for Julie and Bryan. And (once again) since it is their cottage, they do actually have a right to say "No we don't want a bunch of college kids partying up there for a weekend."

Otherwise, I completely agree that they are unreasonable, over-controlling and over-bearing. And it's very disappointing that you guys arn't going becasue Katy and I were gonna stop in for a day before we went to New Paltz >_

I fully understand they have every legal right to say no.I'm just sick of Mrs. Jentzen being overbearing and neurotic as all get-out. Besides - they're really naive if they haven't figured that Dan threw parties there last year with people they DON'T know.

In any event - see you there :-).
