So my new bike was stolen a while back. I decided to fix up my previous bike. There's nothing really wrong with it other than that it is basically rusty as hell and I can feel the crankset slowly disintegrating. And the gears don't change, the brakes hardly work, the handle bars are terrible, the pedals have no traction and it looks like crap ( Read more... )

are you sure the light doesn't work. isn't that an old wheel driven generator light? i think you should keep it if it is.

Yeah, the bike in question is in much worse shape than the pictured bike. The setup doesn't look to be in working condition, but I'd like to find out if I can fix it. Since it's currently dead weight I'm going to take it off but keep it around and maybe reattach it if I can get it working again. Truth be told, I'd like to fix the whole thing up to it's original condition, and just have a sweet 60s road bike, but I don't think the back wheel is long for this world.

in the meantime could you mount it off to the side on the handlebars?
like cop cars have those spotlights that are manipulated from the interior. even if it doesn't work that'd be cool.
