As of yesterday, I now need two hands to count the number of married couples I know who have recently separated or are going through divorce. I know this is my outside bachelor view, and I don't want to trivialize any genune problems in the marriages, but almost all of them seem to be a result of one partner's dissatisfaction, not with the other

Financial stress is often a cause for divorce as well and people are generally miserable because of high unemployment, lack of decent health care, high gas prices, on and on and on. So, yes, the policies of the "marriage protection party" and it's fearless leader probably are contributing to the divorce rate.
