Tux passed away this morning. I think the kids are ok - explained that Tux died and is gone so we won't see him again. Jim and I are taking it pretty hard. We don't know what happened - he either got a hold of something poisonous or something sharp? - he had a habit of eating rocks so that could very well be what happened

Oh, Anne, I so agree. Dogs really become a part of your family. I'm so sorry to hear about this. It's such a hard thing to go through. Love and hugs to all of you...

It is sometimes hard for people to understand your feelings when you lose a pet, especially a dog, if they have not owned one. They really do become special parts of your family and their loss is very painful. We had a German Shepherd named Kenai for slightly less than a year and had to have her put down - I still cry when I see her old collar or someone else's Shepherd.
She'll be a wonderful memory for you and your family. Our condolences.
